Segariu is settled on a thalweg which looks onto the flow of the Flumini Mannu (river), passed through by Rio Pardu (river) for its whole length.
The origins of Segariu go back to the ancient times. In Sa Ginestra (The Genista) locality some Domus de Janas and various nuraghs (as Franghe Morus e Sant’Antoni) were exhumed.
Big portals overlooking the streets of the village take to houses peculiar to this area, built mainly with schistose and trachytic stones, or by traditional crude brick (“in lardiri”).
In the countries of the village, near Lanessi torrent, there is the small church of St. Anthony. Erected in the twelfth century in Romanesque style, at first was part of a Benedictine monastery. Of the original Church, today only the lateral walls and the apse remain. They are decorated with Romanesque archlets, with double arched lintel.
In the month of July, Segariu proposes again the ancient technique of baked tiles production, organizing the “Tebajus” display. The programme includes the opportunity to watch the creation and baking of the typical tiles, as well as typical products exposition and local handicraft exhibition.
The last two important feasts of Segariu are St. Sebastian’s celebrations (the 19th of January) with the traditional votive bonfire, and St. Anthony’s feast (the 13th of June), with a procession in honour of the Saint and an exposition of typical products of the local tradition.
