The municipality of Senis is overlooked from one side by the hill of Giuerri, from the other by the one of St. Victoria.
The territory, mainly hilly, was inhabited since Neolithic period, as Nuraghic, Carthaginian and Romans settlements evidence show. Among them, some domus de Janas going back to the Neolithic, the outstanding nuragh of Senismannu and St. Victoria’s site. In Su Casteddu (the Castle) area there are still the ruins of Funtana Menta castle, an out-and-out natural balcony on (River) Flumini Imbessu’s valley.
The baronial palace, which goes back to 1662, today fully restored, includes the private House, the stables, the prison, a high tower and "Is Nueddas" enclosure[1], originally adapted as a garden, where there is the famous Spanish Fountain, realized about the seventeenth century in red trachyte.
Senis is particularly known for the Festival of the snail (“sizzigorrus”), traditional appointment of Senis summer. The feast takes place in August with free degustation of the typical dish snails-based, cooked according to various local recipes by experienced (female) cooks of the village.
