Ussaramanna settles among the Giara of Gesturi, Setzu, Tuili and Siddi and spreads out along the ample even valley, dotted with centuries-old olive trees and Mediterranean arboreous species.

On the top of the hill, nearby the outskirts of Ussaramanna, there are the remains of St. Peter’s nuragh, which is named after the church with the same name, which has now disappeared.

The village historic centre contains St. Quirico Martyr’s church, probably going back to the sixteenth century, and the sanctuary of St. Mary of Carmine, built in the end of the sixteenth century. In the seventeenth century the sanctuary was deconsecrated and became the seat of the Grain Bank and of the Wheat Bank, finally adapted as a congress hall.

Every year, in springtime Ussaramanna organizes “the Exhibition of Volunteer Herbs”, that grow lushly because of the mild and sunny climate of the territory. During the event there take place a conference with scholars of the field and degustations of dishes based on aromatic herbs. During the last years the exhibition has been coupled with the “Festival of the Padrua” (an excellent ricotta/cheese-based local sweet, also called soft cheese) and with an exposition of local handicraft products.

In the month of August there takes place a solemn feast in honour of St. Lawrence, much felt by Marmilla inhabitants as in its occasion, during the summer, emigrants come back to their villages to visit their families and friends.
