Tuili is a small village of Sardinia, situated at the foot of its Giara tableland.

The Museum of Cagliari today holds much evidence of Prenuraghic settlements excavated in the area of Tuili.

On the brow of the Giara, some kilometers far away from the village, there is St. Elisa’s locality, where, early in the eighteenth century, a workshop for obsidian going back to ancient Neolithic (6.000-4.600 B.C.) was uncovered. There are also remains of Phoenician- Punic epoch in Nurridda area; while in St. Elizabeth’s zone remains of a settlement going back to Roman epoch show. Unlike close villages, in Tuili it is possible to perceive a clear distinction among rich owners' houses, “a corte” (with a court) houses and humble farmers’ houses. The owners' houses, often of ancient Spanish nobility, has typical characters of the zone structures, but paying attention to detail in order to make the resident social status explicit.

St. Anthony Abbot’s white church was built in Spanish colonial architectural style. It is surrounded by a spectacular fence, leant against by typical traditional portals (lollas).

In the historical centre it is possible to admire some elegant buildings in neoclassical style, such as Villa Pitzalis, designed by Gaetano Cima, and Villa Asquer.

Since some years ago, in the spring Tuili organizes the Festival of Su Pai Arrubiu, a particular variety of “civraxiu” bread, whose  red coloured by its paste, composed by orange peel, currants and saffron. It was born as ex-voto, according to ancient customs Su Pai Arrubiu was taken into church to thank the Saint for the graces given.

Since 1999 Tuili hosts the “Sardinia in miniature” Park, an area of 50.000 m2, situated in the valley below Tuili Giara, where the most representative monuments of Sardinia are small-scale reproduced. Because precious materials and the skilful use of dyes and the scientific precision in reproducing details and proportions, the miniatures emerge as out-and-out works of art to scale. The park includes also a planetarium, the Museum of Astronomy and a botanical path, which allows to admire and know the most representative breeds of the typical Sardinian Mediterranean scrub.
